INTRODUCTION TO YOUTH AND DRAMA

The most intimidating factor in doing creative drama with children is their ability to derail your lesson and become chaotic if the slightest thing goes wrong. This is why a basic understanding of youth and drama is crucial. Remember that regardless of the age of your students, they need to be educated, but want to be entertained and engaged. As educators we must remember that our goal is a process-oriented experience. We are not aiming for Broadway. To keep your students "on their toes" and well managed, an understanding of what they like to see and do, and activities they can participate in, is very important.
